AKC German Shepherd (Panda - Stock Coat)

Date of Birth: April 4th, 2021

As much as it breaks my heart, and even though I had said she would be staying here, I have decided to try to find Mei the perfect new home. She has done absolutely nothing wrong, but I need to stop being selfish and think about what is best for our dogs. I also realize that, in the breeding business, unfortunately, not every dog can stay with us.

Mei is the sweetest girl and absolutely loves being loved on! She loves to play fetch, is incredibly intelligent, and has a wonderful off-switch. She is crate and potty-trained, settles well in the house, and is an absolute joy to have around. Mei can get a little antsy and may bark in her crate if her people are outside because she wants to be part of the adventure!

She knows sit, down, heel, wait, stay, fetch, shake, wave, and many more tricks. Mei’s favorite pastime has always been running Fast CAT, but she has since retired and now loves taking it easy and spending time with the family.

Mei can be a little aloof and funny around certain people. We have always said that if something is off about someone, Mei will know and sense it before we ever do. She’ll let us know by refusing to go near them!

Mei is not dominant and is dog-neutral, so she could go to a home with multiple dogs. She has not been around small children, so we cannot say how she would do with them. She also cannot go to a home with chickens or cats, as she does have a prey drive.

Mei is spayed, has OFA Good hips, DJD 1 in both elbows, and is Embark clear. She is currently asymptomatic with her DJD; however, this could change as she gets older. If symptoms do develop, she may need to be placed on a joint supplement or receive injections. She will come with her veterinary records and all appropriate AKC paperwork. This is also a very hard loss for our family and our program. We adore Zosia to death, and even thinking about placing her is an emotional topic, but we know she will make another family extremely happy. She has so much love to give!

Zosia will be looking for her forever home after we have discussed all of our options and the associated costs with the MU Veterinary Orthopedic Clinic to determine whether it would be best to proceed with surgery to correct her UAP now or wait until later. She is the biggest sweetheart and absolutely loves being cuddled, held, and petted! I would consider Zosia to be low-drive. She does enjoy playing fetch and is fairly food-motivated as well. Zosia is crate and potty-trained and settles very well in the house. She is so quiet that, if she weren’t constantly trying to crawl under our skin, you almost wouldn’t know she was there!

Zosia is not dominant and is dog-neutral, so she could go to a home with multiple dogs. She has not been around small children, so we cannot say with certainty how she would do with them. Zosia has never displayed any prey drive here with us; however, if she goes to a home with chickens or cats, she will need to be closely monitored initially.

Zosia is not yet spayed but will be before leaving us. She has a PennHIP score of Right DI = 0.25 and Left DI = 0.40. She has Grade 2 DJD and UAP in her left elbow, a normal right elbow, and is Embark clear. She is currently asymptomatic despite her diagnoses. Zosia will come with her veterinary records and all appropriate AKC paperwork. Her pedigree and any additional information can be provided upon request.
